Dev Log Week 24: It’s Okay, I’ll Wait


Right, another week gone. Who signed off on that? Buckle up, fellow enjoyers of erotic material, because I am about to moan about hardware again.

This week has mostly been me testing my patience while watching Daz crawl along like a Sunday driver with nowhere to be. I am not entirely sure what is causing this painfully slow performance, but it is definitely boiling my piss. In the long run, I think I will need to switch my asset library back from the NAS to SSDs. Tako recently did the same and claimed it did not save that much time, but honestly at this point I would take any boost I can get. It is not an immediate fix, but once this episode is live I will be looking to sort out some of these hardware headaches.

Rant over. So what did I actually get done? I finished the Charlie date night and made good progress on the Max one. I also bashed together an environment for one of the scenes since nothing I found quite fit the vibe I wanted. My favourite part of the new build is an advert I created as a little nod to my dev friend Classy Lemon of Projekt Passion. He recently dropped an update that has jumped to the top of my “to play” pile once this episode is done. Since AVN devs probably drink more Monster than any F1 driver ever has, I am shocked the brand does not sponsor the industry already. In steps Classy Energy, my small tribute to a man who keeps it classy.

Now, you might be thinking: Ok, so you made a pretty picture, who cares? First off, ouch. Secondly, I also crossed the 1,700 render mark this week. I completed 120 renders, which brings the current total to 1,715. And yes, it had to end on a five. Do not judge me.

Back to the render mines I go. Tune in next week to see if there are any remnants of my sanity left.
