Dev Log Week 25: Do or Do Not, There is No Try


The date nights are done. Damn, that feels good to say.

After a fairly productive week, I decided to jump into a Bum Dev competition with my boys Tako, Maya, Volos, and Pink Spector (soon to be dev). Honestly, I didn’t think I could win this one. Daz is chugging along so badly right now that it’s driving me insane. Despite my low odds, I committed to one thing and used the competition as motivation to do the unthinkable. I chose to finish the Max date night, and I actually pulled it off during the competition. It took 80 renders, most of my remaining sanity, and a few cans of Monster, but I did it.

Congrats to my fellow devs for also getting some productive work done. That’s the real reason we do these competitions. The power of competition can push you beyond your limits. It’s not always a good thing, but sometimes it’s exactly what you need to create something amazing.

Now I’m on the home stretch for still renders. There’s still a lot left, but this is the final section of the episode. Once that’s finished, I can wrap up some animations and then dive into the music.

On that note (pun fully intended), I put together a piece of music this week that I’m considering for the episode’s menu theme. I also managed to get a fair bit of writing done, so things are really cooking right now.

The episode currently sits at 1,866 renders, with 151 completed this week. I estimate there are anywhere from 400 to 800 renders left, but I’ll know more once I finish polishing the final section of the chapter.
