Dev Log Week 12: Like a Bat Outta Hell

Alright, lots to break down this week. I took some time off my day job to squeeze in extra productivity on the game. The week before, I ended up working more days at my day job than on the game, which basically meant losing a week's worth of progress. But I wasn’t about to let that slow me down. I came out swinging.

Over the past week, I cranked out 170 renders and wrote a whole bunch of dialogue for the script. One of the big reasons I got so many renders done was thanks to the Bum Dev competition with TakoYuh and Howzane. These little competitions are surprisingly effective. Turns out, spite and pettiness are excellent motivators.

I also spent a day setting up scenes to make future renders easier, so I’m in a good place for the next few weeks. One of those setups was a restaurant scene I kitbashed together to get it looking the way I wanted. I even snuck in a little reference to my good friend Nuii_Pointer in there.

This coming week, the focus is going to be on writing. I’ve got the first “date night” options to work on, which will branch into four different outcomes. The challenge here is making sure these scenes feel meaningful for those choosing a specific girl’s path. I’m really looking forward to digging into these, as it’s a great opportunity to deepen the relationships in the story.

As always, a massive thanks to my boys on Discord — C, Nuii, Barra, Tako, Howie, Wren — for keeping me on the rails this week. And thank you to all my supporters for the kind words and motivation. You lot keep me going.

Cheers, Bat
